Are m-305's getting scarce?

hey guys, are the norinco comparitively ( ie price) better than the springfields? I like the springs but for 2 grand, well too f*cking much. The norincos seem cruder, I handled both but not side by side. By the time you monkey up the norinco, ie all those gi parts and stock changes I read here about, its getting close to the spring on price. thoughts, thanks

I picked up one last fall from a member here who had replaced the Norc bolt with a Winchester, shimmed the gas cylinder, and properly re-indexed the barrel—and I still paid less than 1/3 the cost of a Springfield. I've worked on the stock myself to improve the look but I still may replace it in the future. Even looking at one of Skullboy's masterpiece stocks you're still way ahead cash-wise.

I was a little concerned with the quality as well prior to the purchase—it's my first experience with Norinco—but once I saw it I was very pleased. I have never seen a Springfield commercial rifle so I can't compare, but the Norinco compares very well finish-wise to my eye with my Lee Enfields and Ishapore 1A1 and even my Colt AR. Once I had it out to the range I was sold—accurate, good trigger, and mild recoil.

With the M305 most of the changes are for personal taste only. They are great right from the carton once you clean them off. Getting a USGI fiberglass stock, USGI spring, and Rooster33 oprod spring guide were the greatest improvements that I made and all that was done for about $150 and fitted by me. I later fit a USGI bolt that I obtained from Numrich for $69US to tighten up the headspace for reloading and a National Match rear sight that I had left over from a M1 Garand years ago. I have shot this rifle quite a bit and it is ultra dependable and very accurate. I can't imagine a stock Springfield being any better and it would cost two to three times as much. These are great "fun" rifles.

Buy TWO of the Norinco M14's. Hey, I did ! And I've been competing with M1A's , Norinco M14's and ALL 4 of the M14 Makers for almost 20 years ! :rolleyes:

So get in the game and LEARN that this is the best deal you can get these days !! :p

I sold my other one just before Christmas so I could buy my XD 40. It had the original wood stock refinished.

Now if you bought 4, that is still cheaper than 1 Springfield:D
