Loading sierra 69 gr bullets over Varget powder, are magnum primers a good idea?

If so, approximately how much lighter should the powder charge be? (I currently load about 26 grains.)

You will probably be able to get back up to the 26 grains but start 10% lower and work up checking for pressure signs. I have used magnum and BR primers with no troubles in my .223 and 6BR. with well over maximum loads.

What he said ,start from the bottom and work up, I too have had no problems as well

The question is, "Why?".
sometimes different brands, whether it be standerd,Magnum or Benchrest primers can meen the difference from a 1" group to a .25" group, some guns just like different primers in the recipe

I've had excellent results with 205m and BR4 primers...I wouldn't bother with magnums...your milage may vary, but I doubt it.

The "Why" is that I had read somewhere that you got better ignition of a compressed charge of Varget with a magnum primer.

I'm hearing "Doesn't matter."

Thanks for the advice guys.
