Are some brands harder to get parts for?

I heard HK (or maybe it was Sig) asks if you're law enforcement or military when you call for a new part and if not, you wait forever. Can anyone confirm anything like this happens? Is it hard to get parts for any of the major gun brands? I ask because my range has a P226 but it's been broken since I became a member (and it still isn't fixed). They say they're waiting on a part (though it wasn't from them that I heard parts are hard to get if you're not LE or military).

Basically, if you're waiting for parts for a gun that has RNicholls for an importer you'll wait - but not because you're a civillian (they make police wait too, the mil guys usually have their own arrangements for parts), simply because, well, they (RNicholls/FN Sports) suck at what they do, so at least you know it's nothing personal. If I needed a part or work done on a Sig, I'd call Shooting Edge, or Questar, they have their act together. If they don't have it or can't get fairly quickly, it's because the manufacturer is out of stock. That happens too.
