Are Swiss K31’s chambered in/converted to 30-30 desirable or rare at all?

Like the title says , are the Swiss K31’s in 30-30 anything rare , special or desirable?
Or just another hack job conversion from the beauty original?
Any thoughts or info is appreciated, thanks.

Your second line has it nailed.

Back in the day, they were called 'Alpine Sporters' and sold for $37.70. Nowadays they make a handy brush/truck gun in .30-30 or a reasonable larger game gun in .308Win, also not uncommon. Most, if not all, have had the stocks 'sporterised'. Try finding a K31 stock replacement these days...

Here in Europe they are unheard of.

.
I have not seen many K31 rifles converted to 30-30, BUT a lot of the earlier models were converted by people like Globe. Most of the conversions you see is the 1889 models because this action is considered a bit weaker due to rear locking bolt lugs but is adequate for the 30-30 pressures.

A picture of the rifle would be a help in identifying it.

Appreciate the info guys. Thanks. I don’t have pictures, an acquaintance has one and I noticed it and asked why he sporterized a k31 , he explained his Dad bought it like that a long time ago and it was in 30-30 not the 7.5 swiss. That’s all we know about it and I figured I’d ask on here to garner any info I could.

For North American market.

1889s were "converted" to 30-30 due to weaker action, rim diameter of 30-30 is same as 7.5x55 and barrel is 30 caliber and just had to be rechambered.

96/11 & 1911 were stronger, so were rechambered to .308 Win. Don't think they bothered to change the bolt face.

Although rare, some factory K31s were made in .308 ( Palma matches ) and 300 Win mag for target shooters and some were converted by Swiss gunsmith after factory production stopped

Hämmerli continued small scale K31 production for Swiss civilian use until recently.

I can see what Diopter is saying. My K31-actioned 300m target rifle is made up of a K31 action, chambered in 7.62x51 in a 30" Schultz & Larssen barrel, with a custom prone stock with Centra sights rear and W&F at the front. On my FAC it's listed as a K31, but you have to look pretty hard.

I have an 1889 that is sportered and converted to 30-30, I bought it for $100 a couple of years ago.
These seem to come available on the EE once in a while for $300 but I can't see any point in paying that price.
It is just a novelty and fun for me because I shoot a lot of 30-30 already.

I've never torn one down, but I think that the .30-30 and .308 conversions have sleeved chambers.

In the US, Larry Racine makes (made?) up National Match Course target rifles on K31s. The original barrel breech is used as a sleeve into which the .308 barrel is fitted.
