Didn't know where else to ask this, so I put it here. Mods, please move if it doesn't belong.

I'm thinking of picking up a Tavor, but since I spend a lot of time in the US, it would have to be able to be temporarily imported on my Form 6NIA. I had read (maybe it was here?) that Tavors are not allowed to be temporarily imported from Canada into the US. Something about them being considered converted full autos? I'm probably remembering incorrectly.

So what's the reality?

Why not just buy one here? Or are you buying a tavor in the US to use in the US and bringing it into Canada when you come back to also use in Canada?

no hes buying one here, then bringing it into the USA on a temporary import authorization on form 6 of the BATF.
His question is would the BATF consider his tavor a FA model since previously the BATF has considered our canadian tavors as FA.

Ohhh alright thanks for clearing that up!

Mine is on the form and has been approved approved for the last couple years...
Name and address of Manufacturer: IWI Industries, Ramat Hashron, Israel
Type: Rifle
Caliber: .223
Model: Tavor Tar-21
Barrel Length: 18.5
Overall Length: 29.75

The tar 21 is shred the same name as it's fully auto cousin. Specify semi auto civilian version on your form. If not it will be rejected. If it is rejected, speak with one of their verifiers, they may ask for photos.
