I read somewhere on here that the US are tested at lower pressures than the austrian glocks?

Is that true? if so are there any advantages to the autrian over the uS or vice versa?

thanks

no advantage.
even if the US glocks are tested at lower pressures, it won't affect you unless you are handloading to the very maximum you think you can get away with.which is retarded anyway.

Seems most if not all G17 frames are now made in the US. What the diff if any? I know the side just says 'GLOCK, INC., SMYRNA, GA.' now.

Can you believe in your heart of hearts, that Glock would stake it's reputation
on an inferior product...trust me when you realize that ANY pistol with Gaston
Glock's name on it is going to made, regardless of it's national origin, to the
very highest standard.

I don't think any US made guns are proof tested. All European ones are. No difference in quality, just a little extra assurance if you are concerned about it.

If I remember, EU Proof 3x normal pressure and US SAAMI proof at 2x normal pressure.

It's still the same barrel, it's just the test.

There were a lot of guys around the early summer of 1945 who claimed they were Austrian because they felt it put them in a better light, too... :p

US does not proof guns. European proof loads are nowhere near 3x max.

So, let me get this straight, they overload the gun by 3 times, then they sell it to me. I think I would rather have the U.S. model that hasn't been abused, thank you.

No, the fire a 30% overload in it, to prove the barrel will hold under the worst service condition. In actuallity, the pistol will take much more, but not on a regular basis. the 30% hot load isn't that much hotter than the hottest +P+ I believe, though I may be wrong..
