Are the TradeEx hex receiver 1891/30's any good?

Go for the one with the best description of condition. Talk to Anthony and he will get you what you want. Their descriptions are pretty good.
 
One thing about Trade Ex is that they generally under-rate their own stock. The result is that the customer ends up with something a good bit better than what he thought he was buying.

Very pleasant surprise for a lot of people.

Most guy will say that I'm blowing smoke, but I have the idea that they old-style octagonal ("hex") receivers are inherently more accurate than the later mass-production round receivers, even though they did take longer and cost more to make. There has to be SOME reason that the current Finnish sniping rifle is built around a pre-1930 frame.

In the last year I purchased both a Steyr carbine and hex receiver 91/30 from Trade Ex. Very happy with both.The Moisant is a 1935 in very good to excellant condition including bore. Haven't shot it much yet but shows promise with cast bullets.

i have found that trade ex's products seem to be a notch higher condition wise than they describe.
 
The only problem I have encountered is that they always pick the nice ones and when stock is low, all what is left is rubbish and they won't tell you.
 
Ordered a m91/30 with hex reciever from tradeex 2 weeks ago, Very rusty and needed complete restoration, what you get for not seeing before buying i guess. Still in the process of redoing most of the bluing, fixing a very large deep rust spot on hidden section of barrel, barrel band springs complety rusted out, sling stock things rusted. trigger group rusted where was not visibile when together. Stock has alot of rotten wood around where the rust was.

Well, I guess if you buy the $20 one that is advertised as a rusted wall hanger, that is what you get.

next time buy a better one that is listed as good shootable condition
