Are there any advantages of a non-chrome lined CZ858 over the NR chromed lined VZ58

For what the 858 is, which is a combat type sporting rifle, I doubt you'd see a big difference between the two accuracy wise. Unless of course the chrome is deposited poorly and unevenly during the plating process. Then the non-chromed barrel may have a big advantage in accuracy. The chromed barrel should offer a bit more protection against throat erosion though.

I think chroming the barrel reduces accuracy maginally. This is true among sks's so the logic should follow over to 858's.

It also increases service life substantially when shooting surplus - especially without cleaning it properly after, which is why the military does this with most assault style rifles.

Its a 200 meter gun for shooting people. Chrome lined or not it doesn't make a difference. The supposed loss in accuracy will be unnoticeable with all but pet loads.

I am thinking that this belongs in the red rifle section. I have both a chromed lined VZ58 and a non chrome CZ858. The CZ858 is more accurate, no question, but the VZ's barrel cleans up much easier. Do I really care? Not really. The CZ858 is king though because I can take it and shoot it just about anywhere.
