are there any wild hogs/pigs in alberta?

Apparently there are ferel pigs in the 3 Prairie provinces. Contact the fish cops and ask what the rules are about shooting one in AB. For many hunters, a whitetail or mule deer is easy to field dress and process by hand at home. Unless you are familiar with pig anatomy, you might be asking for more work than you think. Cuts of pork can be very specific vs random slabs of venison and ground meat.

In Alberta the Wild Boar Eradication program is covered under SRD guidelines and not the fish & game department. Now if you are after bounty as well as meat, that depends on each seperate county in Alberta. Some counties subscribe to the provincial program, others may or may not do so. This detail you'll have to contact each rural county office for yourself.
Butchering a pig, domestic or feral is pretty darn close to butchering deer IMO. So if you can butcher a deer, you can butcher a mature pig or vice-versa. If you somehow confine yourself to just shooting piglets because you feel overwhelmed by heavier animals, sooner or later you'll have to shoot the momma (or a male boar) and you'll have no choice in this matter.
Wild boar can be the very best and leanest pork and often does not need to be spoiled in any way with using domestic pork practices as a guideline.
Taste will vary with what they are feeding off of.

hmm, good to know,
only part size related, wild bacon and pork chops seemed to sound really tasty... I think I may be underestimating the size though, looks like I would still need a quad to get it out of the bush unless I got a piglet... good excuse to buy a quad though
but it does sound like there are quite a few out there... just weird because I see deer, moose, heck even feral cows, ect, but I have NEVER seen a hog/boar//wild pig in alberta.
