If im not mistaken you are a stittsville member with a savage 10tr?
If you are shooting savage 10tr, mine has a hard time with factory ammo.
Rifling starts too soon (lands), and factory ammo is too long. Causing me to have to force bolt shut and i had pressure signs.
Since i reload it’s a good thing as it gives me plenty of mag space to lengthen loads as throat erodes, if i was only shooting factory i would of returned my rifle.
I can bring an OAL tool with bullet comprator tonthe range sometime if ever you want to see where your lands are at

You're correct, but in this instance the issue is with my model 11 Long range hunter in 6.5 Creedmoor. My 10TR has been pretty happy overall.

It's an ejector mark. I believe that the 3 with the ejector marks were also the first 3 (of 8) fired.

My question was if the blown one was the first round fired, possibly suggesting that there was excessive oil or grease in the barrel, causing a spike in pressure.

I apologize I misunderstood what you meant when you referred to it as a bulge. It was definitely in the first 3, not sure which order though. I believe it was second or third.

The gunsmith thought I was reloading at first with too hot of loads, but when he saw the packaging, and after thinking about it for a while, deduced that it was plausible that it was the ammunition. (There were other rounds fired before that day without a cleaning session, so oil or contaminants in the chamber not likely.) (And I wasn't into reloading then either.)

Inspection and repair of the rifle didn't lead to any different diagnosis. (wouldn't eject cartridges freely after this)

Hornady has been great for me previously but I shied away from this specific model/line ever since. I discussed this with 2 of the big box outdoor vendors here and one vendor was surprised and the other, surprisingly not so much.

(I am far from being an expert but some of the Hornady brass I've worked with has been really soft. I don't know if that in combination with powder load may have rolled up into this event.)
