The receiver and nose cap look good but what is with my number on the bolt? It seems to match but the number 1 looks odd and also another two 1's after? All have the 5872 in it so I'm a bit confused, any help would be great! Thanks!
Sometimes you will find Enfields that are poorly stamped. Either it slipped out of a jig during stamping or the stamper was hungover. Who really knows. For what it is worth, it is very likely a matched bolt.
Yeah I would say an honest factory miss strike, I've seen a few from many different nations like this. Just think of the volume they were probably done in for perspective.
I know the bottom of the 8 looks funny on the bolt but what other number would they have stamped over? If you look at it no other number really would make a fit like that the only other number it looks like it might have been is a 9 but even that looks unlikely and it sure was not a 0 or that would be one small 0
I've got some doubt the bolt was with the rifle through FTR. The original number that has a B prefix has been partially stamped over. It's not the norm.
But, no one can say what's happened between then and now and it's a matching number.
