I rad on a forum thread you took it over from Marstar, but don't see any of their products on your site - have they been dropped?

No we didn't exactly take it over from Marstar. We have ordered direct from SSD, they may make good guns but their service is terrible. Last time we paid a 50% deposit with order paid the balance when we were told the order was ready to ship and then waited 6 months for them to ship, so we were not impressed. I am not keen to go back to them, I now find ourselves sitting on six MP38 that we can do nothing with and no Government purchase for dealers!

Right, well I had assume since Marstar dropepd them, you have taken over - my bad. I assume then you are not going to import any more of the models that are NOT problematic (i.e. the closed-bolt models)?

Just because some models are closed bolt does not guarantee anything. The same as having an FRT # does not guarantee anything as it is not law. We are at the mercy of the RCMP/CFC as they can change anything at anytime. Given this climate, the small market in Canada and the fact that the majority on consumers do not expect to pay anything to cover the importers expense or “risk” I am a little cautious of new imports right now!

Hi John,

I'm one of the unlucky BD38 owners who just handed mine over to the local police.
I wonder if it would be possible to convert the open bolt version to a closed bolt one with parts from SSD and submit it to the RCMP for approval, maybe its worth a try, better than sitting on six guns you cannot sell.
Best regards,
Herman

I can almost certainly guarantee the answer will be No considering our current laws.

Two of my six are open bolt, they are all dammed! Two few of these guns in country, the owners are not strong enough (to few) to take on this one. The whole system is total f****** I can convert an M1 to full auto with a boot lace! But they are OK. Keep buying SKS remember safety in numbers!

John:

Do you know of the Volksgewehr 1-5 in 7.62 kurz is FRT'd and importable at present?

No update?

Claven 2. My apologies I overlooked this, I do not see an FRT which means they may not been examined yet, it could take 7-12 months to obtain an answer on classification. Wolfgang is on holiday this week, I will ask him to call SSD on his return. Given their past record for pricing and support combined with the possible problem with classification you will understand that I am a little “Gun Shy” on this one, pardon the pun.

Well, it would help to know the approximate cost and if they are in series production. Once those questions are answered, and depending on cost, maybe something could be worked out? I definitely want one, IF legal.

It is my understanding the Germans never made this firearm as an automatic. It was always semi-only, so the RCMP can't pull the old "just drop in this impossible to get trigger group..." trick. They would have to do something else to make it into a prohib.
