Are your Cz 858 tactical's poorly finished as well?

So, I painted my beaver puke wood all army green and used masking tape to tape off the gun parts as I didn't removed the wood from the rifle(Upper hand guard came off of course). Anyways peeling off of the masking tape, also peeled off the "painted" finish in spots on the barrel. Now my rifle looks like a peice of $hit. Also after a recent firing session and cleaning, I looked down the muzzle and notice what appears to be a spot of chome lining either missing or flaking off. Not too impressed with the finish of my rifle whatsoever at the moment. Its only had about 200 rounds through it, and always inspected and cleaned properly.
 
Pics may help with the bore. Are you sure it isnt the hole for the gas to bleed out into the piston??

If you still arent to happy with it, Ill be happy to buy it off you for a decrease in price. ;-)
 
Wow, I feel like an idiot. Although a relieved idiot, seems the mark that I thought was chrome, is infact the hole for the gas to the piston. Thanks for that headache cure ;)

The easiest way to fix it would be to sand down the damaged area until it flat, then repaint with some krylon. The best way is to send it to Arma coat for the best finish money can buy.
 
I understand how you feel about having a newer rifle with paint chipping off. Who really cares tho. If you will be using it in the bush then its just gonna get worse. Dont forget its a battle rifle not a hi end Ferrari.
If it really still bothers you buy some engine enamle- I believe its a Cummins truck paint that goes by the colour name of Bluke. Spray down the barrel and forget aboutit.
 
Powder coat would be a muc better choice for a rifle its heat resistant, it chemical resistant. You can beat it to hell and it doesnt chip easily. Only disadvantages are its a bugger to strip off due to its durability and it adds thickness to parts not good on a precisely machined vz58 maybe an option for an ak lol

The easiest way to fix this is to hit it with a can of spray paint. Its a service rifle, a beater, a tool. Use it and move along. Paint or lack thereof really doesn't affect anything.

Mine was all chipped and flaking badly along the length of the barrel same as yours.
I just sand blasted her and did a spray on Cera-Bake.
Cheap, easy and durable enough for a filthy communist rifle.

I got mine used for $400 though. So I didn't mind breaking it down and messing with it.

You can always go the spray can finish. But could invest a little more and get a can of dura-coat etc.
 
Travis, I was thinking about refinishing as well but need some advise before I start. What areas did you tape off? Did you refinish the internals as well? I will most likely just hand sand it down as I don't have a sandblaster or the know how to use one, will this work OK? I finish i was looking for would be a matte black, as matte as possible. Anyone out there have any pointers for my first refinish job?
