Areas for shooting NW of Calgary?

Looking to sight in a new rifle and practice a bit with another. I'm not too familiar with the areas around Calgary. I live in the NW, and was looking for a good spot to practice. I don't really want to drive all the way out past Waiporous, like I have in the past to shoot. Anyone know the status on some of those grazing leases or if there is any closer crownland for some responsible shooting?

Have you considered the "free" range out at the Homestead Shooting Center? As long as you don't go during peak hours, it can be a good place to shoot. On weekends, or close to hunting season, it tends to be a bit of a gong show out there though at times.

Hi Josh, a bit of a drive (I go alot further than you would to get there), but this is a nice range, fees are very reasonable and good people running it. Out west of Olds.
