Areas in S Man for Coyotes/Fox/Wolf?

Hi;

New to Winnipeg and looking do some coyote / fox and wolf hunting. Can anyone recommend some areas within a reasonable drive of Winnipeg for day hunts? Before I start canvassing some of the farms, I would like a bit of direction on which areas might be more productive.

Also, is there any crown land in the area that would be accessible and hold some yotes?

(By the way - I'm not a big deer hunter, but man there are alot of em out here!)
 
A good area was always around Hadishville (East of Wpg). When I was younger we always went to the Hadishville area because that is where our tree permit was and the area was crawling with yotes.

I have often thought it would be great to go back there and try calling. It wasn't a very populated area so I don't think they are disturbed at all.

There was also a lot of foxes in the Carman area but you can be seen for miles in that country.

Why not try south of town along the Red River. There are lots of dairy farms and shrub/pasture land. That is all they require to hold them.

Hey Montaggio,

Pretty much anywhere you want to go around here has Yotes. Depends on how far you want to travel. Not many wolves in the southern part of the province. The odd one, but you'd be better off going further North.
If you're looking for Crown land, your best bets are some of the wildlife managment areas and the parks. Community pastures are also a good place. Lots of farms will give permission too.
The interlake is a great area and you don't have to go far. Half hour from the perimeter gets you into some great areas. One year my buddy and another guy shot over 80 in one winter. They went pretty hard core every weekend though and had lots of land to hunt on.

Click on the map to open the program and then you can zoom in or pan around. You can find crown land by clicking the "layers" tab at the top and then opening the "Land Use" folder at the left. CLCC land is crown and it'll show up as pink on the map.
You can also get aerials for much of the southern part of the province. Not the greatest quality but they're free.

You can get property ownership and topo maps from www.canadamapsales.com or fromthe Natural Resources maps branch on Century Ave.
