Ares Defense GSR-35 Black Lightening from Wolverine???

I don't own one but looking at the pictures, it appears to be a short recoil system. Lots of parts, looks more complicated than the LMT or PWS system. The bolt carrier rear looks like the old ones before the changes to minimize carrier tilt became more common.

In searching the web, most posts about this system are around 4-5 years old.

If I were to purchase a gas piston AR today I would choose either LMT or the PWS.

LMT is short recoil, built like a tank and is on a freefloat fore end. Big gas block so can be fairly tip heavy. LMT barrels are chrome line and have a 20K round lifespan.

PWS uses a long recoil system, the long piston is attached to the BCG so it's like an AK or Swissarms in function. These are much lighter, but does not have free-floated barrel. PWS barrels are Nitride treated like swissarms barrels and have a very long life, some people in US have shot well over 20K on theirs with no problems. Assuming the Nitride process is similar to swissarms, it may reach 35K or more rounds before accuracy begins to degrade.

Both have modifications to BCG to reduce carrier tilt. The PWS comes with an enhanced buffer tube to further reduce carrier tilt wear of lower receiver.

The price of PWS piston guns at Questar is VERY attractive.
