Has anyone bought or otherwise handled one of these yet? I just gave one at my LGS a thorough going over (Phoenix Indoor Range, Edmonton) and colour me impressed all to heck! It has SIG P226-like ergos, but with a frame-mounted Manual Safety and a combination Slide Stop and Decocker. The controls offer total flexibility in operating the pistol. With the Safety applied you can still rack the slide, press-check, or manually #### the Hammer. There is a mechanical interrupt which prevents the Slide Stop from contInuing to Decock mode. In order to Decock the pistol after dropping the Slide, you have to first release and then reapply downwards pressure on the Slide Catch/Decocking Lever. It is a very slick set-up that allows carry Hammer-down (double-action first round) with the Manual safety on or off, as well as "cocked and locked" carry.

The AREX Rex Zero 1 garners rave reviews in the US, where it is imported from Slovenia and warranteed by the FIME Group out of Las Vegas, NV. I don't anticipate any problems, but if there are, It is good to know that both AREX and the FIME Group apparently have your back. For anyone who doubts that Slovenia can produce a modern service pistol, I suggest checking out the AREX Factory Tour videos on Youtube and Polenar Tactical's website. Very impressive capabilities, particulsrly in terms of their precision production and testing processes. I was so impressed with the layout, controls, fit, finish and positive reviews that I immediately plunked down my hard-earned $1200. The Tactical model takes it up a notch with the slide milled for the RMR (or other MRDS) that my aging, post-cataract eyes require. They typically sell for $800 USD, so a bit of a Canadian premium applied to our price. Such is the cost of doing firearms buisness as a Canadian consumer.

An (apparently) excellent pistol with an outstanding range of features, the Rex Zero 1 Tactical may just supplant my Sig P226 SAO Legion as my favorite Hammer-fired pistol! A tall order, but I think that the AREX might just be that good....

Well, it's here - at least the one I bought is. I'm not sure how it came into the country or how many are floating around out there right now. Phoenix has been known to deal with IRG as well as the established Distributors, so it may be a "one of" to test the market waters so to speak. If I get the chance, I will ask Len the owner where my pistol came from and report back. I should be picking mine up on Tuesday once the AB CFO approves the transfer.

A shiny new Trijicon RMR RM06 Type 2 is awaiting its new host...

I've been looking into these. They seem like solid pistols and the reviews are all good.

Might pick up the Alpha after some reviews come out.

It is home, after a quick range session to zero the RM06 RMR. I was printing 10-shot single ragged holes at 7m, which is as good as I've ever done with my SIG P226 Legion SAO. This may just become my new favorite pistol for a while. I have a set of Hogue G10 grips enroute from Slovenia which should aid in the mainteance of a stable grip, as the stock grips are a tad too slick for my liking. I have to shift my grip in order to engage the combination Slide Stop and Decocking Lever, as well as the Ambi Magazine Release. Hopefully an extended Mag Button will be available in the future. Aside from those minor "first world problems", I remain extremely pleased and impressed by Arex's first attempt at a modern combat handgun.
