I managed to make a deal on a mint CZ 452 Varmint in 17 Mach 2 off of a guy on RFC :dancingbanana:. He received my money, and is shipping it out to Prophet Rivers importer. Per their website, it takes 8-12 weeks, this is going to suck!!! It's got a Weaver T24 on it as well which is a fine optic on it's own.

It seems like CZ 17M2's are rare up here so I jumped at the chance for this one and lucked out. It's a bit of a premium with the import fee, but I have no regrets. The scary thing is, now I know I can buy stuff in the US so I'll have to put my blinders on or it's going to get expensive.

My experience with importing with PR is it gets here early. That said I usually just try to forget I made the purchase and forget about it. Then it's a whole new surprise when it does show up. Sometimes this is harder than others.

Congrats on the CZ and the Weaver. Should be a nice shooter!

I'm bringing in a couple barrels through PR too, but still waiting for the barrels to be made! Got a Fly trigger from Wolverine, all I've been able to do the past two months is dryfire :( Just need that barrel... do the bedding and I'm ready to rock. Yeah, waiting sucks.

In years past, Canada was exempt from the ITAR restrictions on exports.... I think we should go back to that... or refuse to ship the Yanks our Maple Syrup!

Congratulations. A 452 Varmint in 17M2 should be very worthwhile waiting for.

What is a ballpark figure for importing a rifle worth, say $1000, to Canada from the U.S.? What does it cost in addition to time to import a barrel?

CCI still makes 17mach2 ammunition for Hornady , usually once per year or so. Watch the vendors, buy plenty when it becomes available. I am down to 15,000 rounds of the Eley loads, so I won't get too concerned for a few years.

Wow that's a lot of ammo haha

I originally purchased over 20,000 rounds of the Eley loads, when they were readily available and affordable, then I purchased another few thousand when a person was getting rid of his 17mach2, so I had a lot more at one time.:) Now the Hornady loads sell for $10 per box or more, when you can find them. I have owned six 17mach2 rifles, but I sold all but my Cooper, since it is my favorite, and most accurate. It averages 3/4" for five shots at 100 yards on a calm day.

I've managed to scrounge up a little over 3000 rounds in the last 16 months, including 1300 Eley off the EE. I've got a Marlin that shoots okay, and a Lilja barrel on a 455 that tumbles the 15.5NTX Hornady round. Based on the sellers report, it sounds to be a nice shooter. He never claimed anything ridiculous, so I'm inclined to believe him. I've got a 7.5 acre utopia with my own 125 yard range and backstop and figure if I shoot 200 rounds a year, my stash will last 15 years if I don't resupply. I mainly want it for magpies and the odd 13 stripe gopher in the yard when I don't want to wake the nearest neighbor (400M) early on a Sunday morning. The rest of the time, I'll light 'em up with an HMR or WSM.

CCI makes for Hornady, and there is talk on RFC of a substantial amount of Hornady floating around based on the recent run. I tried to buy a pile from Korth who is the Hornady importer and was told none was to be had.

Steve, why not just build your own action and put one together that would shoot circles around the CZ?????

Man if I had your knowledge and tooling and such I would be right on that....
