Arisaka Type 38 bolt wont open FIX

So today I picked up my very first Japanese rifle from a local auction house. I know little to nothing about this gun. At the auction house I attempted to open the bolt to “PROVE” the rifle safe. The bolt refused to open. So I slapped a trigger lock on it and brought her home.

When I had a chance to play with it I found that the safety knob was installed wrong based on the pictures of other 38’s (not to mention the firing pin was installed wrong as well, but I didn’t know that until I fixed it)

I read online about removing the bolt release and pushing something back but there was no pictures to walk me through the process. So I documented the fix and posted it to YouTube. Here is a condensed version.

1) Remove the two bolts holding the stock on.
2) remove the two bolts from underneath the bolt release, and remove the bolt release.
3) using a flat head screw driver push on the firing pin so that it gets pushed back towards the safety knob. At the same time push the knob in and rotate clockwise. The knob should fly off.

Here it is fixed and in proper location.
