Hi all,

Got a sporterized (drilled/tapped for scope + some wood removed) Arisaka Type 38 rifle (pics below) from an estate sale. According to this page, it has to be Koishikawa or Kokura arsenal, but the missing series marking plus 5-digit serial makes it one of the first ones produced, i.e. around 1910? Is my guess correct? Could the year of manufacture be narrowed down further?

(Definitely not a trainer - there are lug nuts on the bolt, and there is rifling.)

thanks!

Anyone?

Just did a chamber cast and found out it's really in 6.5 Japanese, not rechambered. (Cleaned it in the process, and learned the hard way that an aluminum cleaning rod sucks as a means to get that cerrosafe out.)
