This interests me as I am going to Texas for night hog hunts. I have seen the product reviews but never the mounting procedure on a rifle. Is it only for AR style or even a bolt action? Does the scope have to be repositioned and all readjusted or straight add on? Is this visible light to the target? Not ready to purchase as I will be using the hosts' equipment this year but would like to know what to expect. Thanks.

They are popular with air gunners and can be mounted on anything with a rail. Thermal and or "night vision" with infrared illumination an some units do both.
I think after you go on your hunt and use some of the gear in person it will be more obvious what they are capable of. The tech has come a long way in recent years and the price is pretty reasonable now for decent very usable quality images.
The one shot zero is a cool feature.
