Arma-coat and other gun treatments

I had two SKS's Armacoated. A very nice product, but not a durable as I thought. I would say that it's a great solution for anybody that spends time in the field and doesn't want to worry about rust. However, it will not stay pristine forever. Perhaps there isn't a "bullet proof" coating out there.

I had an Auto-5 ArmaCoated and I agree with this.

Select Shooting Supplies. Can you tell me what I can expect from the Gun Kote? I am interested in haveing a couple of slug/turkey guns done. Price? Thanks, Jim

Hi Jim,

KG Gun Kote is the original firearms coating product, it has been around since the 60's, it is not as well known as some other brands as most of their sales are to manufacturers. The product is a thin film coating. Most colours have a dry film lubricant in the resin and when applied properly the product is extremely durable and both heat and chemical resistant.

The key to successful application is preparation, The firearm should be fully stripped, regressed, media blasted, regressed again and then coated and baked. All parts are inspected and if required the process is repeated and when all parts are properly coated the firearm is reassembled.

The coating is so thin that it will not hide any imperfections in the surfaces being coated. We can usually turn most projects around in 10-14 days, the cost varies based on the number of parts being coated and the amount of time to strip, prep and reassemble the firearm. A shotgun would start at $185 plus return shipping and taxes but could go as high as $500.00.

I got my Marlin back from Valcun today looks good to me,less than 2 weeks turn around,I missed sending 1 screw to be done.We will see how it handles the salt water coast up here.
