Anyone apply this on there own? How did it work? What mistakes or suggestions would you make when doing this. Thanks!

Dave.

Worked great for me. Only suggestions I can think of, make sure the piece is absolutely clean and use a small gravity feed gun. I found the gravity feed worked better for me, didn't waste(screw up) as much product.

I've done it with the oven and without. The oven was faster is all. I can't feel or see a difference from the stuff I cooked and the stuff I let sit for the required time. This stuff is bone simple to use. Like anything else what makes the difference is your prep work.

Picked some up at the Calgary gun show last weekend. Followed the directions to a T and it looked great. Did my ruger MK III. I asked the rep there about the oven cure, she said that it just cures faster ( 1 hour), as opposed to 21 days for a full cure just letting it air dry. She said that one was not better than the other though.

I was contemplating building an oven, and doing coatings on components at work, but if it cures nicely without heat, I'll give it a try. What kind of spray guns are you using? Air px? I'm sure I'll find out in the instructions, but I'm curious now?

I have some that I haven't used yet, but I have seen the job it does on some other guns and it looks great.

The only suggestion I would have from reading other information on the product us make sure you buy a small, gravity feed, HVLP (High Volume Low Pressure) gun. I really don't know the difference between this and a regular touch up gun, but apparently it is better.

i did one of my rifles today with a siphon feed airbrush. worked great, barrel took a while....... i'd suggest an hvlp for that. i have one but i had already done everything else with an airbrush, so i didnt want to dirty another piece of equipment. i'm gonna bake it later tonight. the stuff goes pretty far too (as far as coverage)

I used a relatively expensive Badger airbrush and somwhat ruined it in the process. When mixed this stuff is near impossible to come off. On the flip side it's rock solid.

I painted my 858 with it and it's remained solid. The only place it chipped was on top of the action which slides back anf forth after every round. It only made sense it would.

One warning, and i know it briefly mentions it in the instructions, is be cautious of how much you build it up, i put it on a little too thick on the sear.....so i know i have to sand the side of it with a sheet of emery because it's a touch too stiff.
Other than that it works great, i baked everything except the barrel (which wouldnt fit in the oven and my wife wouldn't let me cut a hole in it ;P ) and it looks primo.
