Anyone else have a problem getting parts or service out of ARMCO?

Weeks ago, I ordered a few small parts over the phone. Yesterday I couldn't get anyone to answer the phone so I sent an email cancelling the order.
Almost immediately, I got a response saying "Will do.", with a 'smiley' behind it.

In the meantime, my wife bought a pink/camo shooting bag off the net and it arrived within a week. I regularly get items from Brownells within 10 days.
I like to buy from Canadian sources, but I'm soooo tired of hearing - "We'll have to order that in for you." or "That item is out of stock, or my favourite:
"I know it's on the web site, but we don't stock everything we list. I'll see if I can get it for you from another outlet."

Why are people still doing business with him with all the negative reviews....
I understand he is good at what he does but come on.

with armco you have to - send it and forget it! that's the secret. I think he's an old man, he works slow, doesn't really use email much, likes to fax.

Tried to buy a pair of Glocks off him a few years back. Slow is not the word for it, it was the worst attempt at buying a firearm that I have ever had, it went on for 2 weeks until finally I cancelled the order. Never tried to buy anything from them again and never will.

It's worth the wait, once you get your 'Armco-Tuned' Norinco 1911 back you can sell it for $900 on the EE!

LOL, too true. I bought one pistol off of Gunnar and he sent the pistol in a shoe box saying he lost the manual and box, then a week and a 1/2 later the hard case shows up then like a month later the literature showed up. Only for me to send him I am displeased with the way he handles stuff email then for him to return my email stating- "who pissed in your cornflakes??"
Just a joke, i dont even look at his site anymore.

I just traded a BHP in to him. I told him it had fired 1500 rounds or more, I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with it, I had made 3 scratches on the gun when I did my version of gun smith work on it, I bought it in 2010 new. I traded it off cheap as I did not want to sell it to an unsuspecting soul on here. So here is a cut and past off his web site 5 minutes ago:
"Last year's Browning Hi-Power in 9mm - still looks new - less than 500 rounds - $749 - Trades? On hold - Shawn "

The guy is a friggin crook!

Why do you think he isn't a sponsor here anymore.......

There are still a few here who stand by him, but even some of them have run into his BS now.

He should be charged criminally for fraud from some of the things I have heard.

You can say he is old, or he is sick, or his work is worth the wait, or whatever excuses you want, but I truly question the character of the man at this point.

This is far more than just bad business!!!

I agree with every thing you have stated mlehtovaara!!!!!!!

I wanted an LAR Grizzly he had listed recently, didn't even get a reply despite sending 3 emails. It's the only business I have had flat out ignore me.

I have dealt with gunnar on more than one occasion. I did have issues with one transaction but the others have been without issue. His work is top notch. I also am of the undestandings that he has some severe health issues. This may be the reason for the slow service some are talking about. Also I do not beleive and think there are many others that would say that Gunnar is far from a crook.

I've heard nasty stuff about every single gunsmith in BC - every one, famous or obscure - apparently the gunsmithing business in BC is composed entirely of incompetents, thieves and liars. I personally, have never experienced a single problem with any gunsmith I've dealt with in BC. Strange, huh?

When you have sever health issues and cannot serve your customers properly anymore, you don't keep taking their money while not answering their inquisitive emails for weeks. And enough so that people make a thread about it every week or so.

Never had any problems in the past. However I order a mag, was shocked to see an addition $10 handling charge on top of the postage and taxes on a $40 item.
