Hey,
I am planning out a 1911. I first looked at 1911's with built in rails, and the cheapest I found was the SAM Thunderbolt at Wolverine Supply for $750ish. I then discovered the add on rails from Novak and Dawson and finally the Armco one.
From looking at photos there appears to be a difference in mounting the rail. Novak and Dawson appear to screw in from the outside, where the Armco appears that the screw go through the dust cover into the rail. I figure the Armco would be more secure due to the more threading in the rail rather than the thin dust cover.
Does anyone have any first hand knowledge about this and the security of the Armco rails. I searched the forum and could not find any reviews of the rails, mostly conversations on what to get and then the thread stops.
I am basically at a cross road in my build plan. Do I get an Armco tuned 1911 with an add on rail, or wait for a used railed 1911 on EE / save more for a new Thunderbolt or other.
Cheers,
