I recall reading that there is a conflict with a screw at the front of the arms mount and the handguard, and I'd need to replace that screw to avoid modifying the handguard.

I didn't think to ask about it when I ordered the mount, and wolverine is closed now. Can someone please tell me where/how to get the proper screw?

TIA

Yes the screw will strike/rub the hand-guard. You can replace the screw with a hex/allen screw (I have the thread pitch etc and will dig it up if you want), or cut the head off and slot the stubb carefully. That's what I did and it works fine. The replacement hex/allen key is not pricey, but can be hard to find depending on where you are.

Ah, that sounds like a simple solution - I can't imagine it would be difficult to replace that original screw if I ever sell the mount, so it shouldn't affect resale value.

Thanks. :)

I believe the set screw was a 7/64" by 1/4", but I could be mistaken.

Once you use a set screw you won't have to carve up your handguard. Trust me, the set screw costs less than the gas needed to drive to Home Depot. It's not a big thing or an onerous project / set screw to replace.

Cheers,
Barney

That'll be a machine screw Barney, a #4 or #6, probably by 40 tpi. Take the one you remove with you, find a nut at the store that fits it and thats your size, then just find a quater inch long set screw. If I'd been a) thinking and b) not so eager to get it mounted, thats what I would have done. Instead I filed a little notch in my Norc handgaurd, you can't see it when the scope mount is on, but I know it's there.....

Yeah, I'll be eager to get it mounted too, that's why I thought I better decide on a course of action *before* it arrives.

Some people think the idea of storing handguns in a safe has merit, but what really needs to be locked up to prevent the temptation of unwise use is my dremel!

ROFL!!!!!!!:D I laughed out loud on that one! You have to wonder how many ill concieved firearm modifications this company has been complicit with over the years. (I hide mine in the basement so it's hard to get to):runaway:

Ah the Dremel, Baba's tool of choice! Can't live without one, but sometimes the temptation to use it as a do-all, fix-all is too great.

Been trying to find a 6-40 3/16" here in Edmonton (tried Rona, Home Depot, Totem, and Home Hardware). The closest I can find is 6-32. You'd think I could find something?

Anybody have some other suggestions as to where to look for the screw?

Maybe someone who has found them locally could drop one in the mail for him?

Oppy - remember that it doesn't have to be the correct length screw, if you can just find one of the correct thread you could always cut it to length.
