I just to the mount off my m14 to bed it, but while takeing it off the front contact fell out, is there any parts between the pad and the nut you turn down other than the washer?

follow up....

OK... I just removed mine and looked in at it and there should be a small bushing holding the assy together - yours might be MIA....

Once you remove the 'tensioner' there are 2 washers inside it that are concaved (circularly) and sit in opposition to one another - hence providing tension.
