I read the Faq on scope mounts, one question not answered that I would like to know is in regards that many receiver key slots are too narrow, but does the mount actually lay flat against the receiver area where the hole is located (ie touch this surface) or does the mount only contact key slot surfaces ??

So I may have a shallow key slot problem?? I returned a mount because of excessive windage as in 3-4 feet @ 100yrds after using up all the range on the scope, the replacement mount looks ok, but it does not contact the side of the rifle's receiver, it centered itself in the vertical & horizontal key slots.
