Armscor M1600

These things have been around for years. They are Ok but the ruger 10/22 is much better. If you need to have one i've got one with the telescopic but in my vault you can buy. lol
Truthfully its ok, certainly much better than the Jager Copy.

Still own 2 of them, 1 with colapsible rear stock & the other full stock version. Mine are Squires Bingham M16 & M16R. They are the same rifle as the Armscor M1600. These rifles need high velocity or hyper velocity ammo for them to run properly. Wondering who sells them new, in Canada ? And whats the retail price ?

Frontier has them for $289.

I've had several of those rifles, under the Squires Bingham name. They're not a Cadillac but I recall having a lot of fun with them. When clean they run pretty well.

I'm surprised to see them still being made and available new....I thought they were long in the past.

There is something to be said for an arm made of steel and wood. A little aluminum but mainly steel receiver and wood stock.

I'm not a huge fan of the plastic most of the current crop of Tacticool rimfires are largely composed of.

The new ones on the market do not have the flash hider. My guess is that is due to the US assault weapons ban, the fh would have been a post ban issue.

If you can find the correct part, the fh just taps on to the barrel and is retained with a set screw.

The new Armscor M1600 is exactly the same rifle as the Squires Bingham M16 and all the other names it's had over the years.

With 2 exceptions:

1) No flash hider.
2) The outer trigger/magazine housing is now made of a Zytel like polymer vs the aluminum they used to be made of. It's a non stress area, the polymer will do the job.

Changing those parts out is very easy if you can find an older donor parts gun. The parts are also available new.

The barrel can be threaded and any AR style flash hider can be put on.

But the main points in it's favour are: Steel receiver, full diameter steel barrel, wooden stock. And, based on my and many others past experience, the ability to shoot thousands upon thousands of rounds without any failure more serious than needing to be cleaned.

I'm quite fond of the things.
