Army Training

Run faster, stop and do push ups and sit ups while you're running(don't catch your breath first either). As mentioned above, keep your mouth shut, work hard and help your buddies. That's how you slowly earn respect, not being grey. Oh and run faster... As for the rest, they'll teach you how they want it done. Never mind the ar15, you'll just have more bad habits to break.

As far as my perspective goes, basic is a very, very small step in your overall career.

Go there, do what you're told, and if you fail, the staff will have done you a favor.

Just pass and focus on your profession within the forces. Infantry, for example, demands many qualifications before you can actually get deployed, basic is your least concern.

infantry will remain closed for a while or at least it should as we are over maned they are trying to move a couple thousand as it is and im not sure if they are evan running any infantry courses right now last time we get new guys was october or further back.

Take a few minutes and learn some basic individual skill items too.

1. Learn to iron a shirt.

2. Learn to do your own laundry.

3. Learn to put polish on a pair of boots.

4. Learn to fold your shirts neatly.

Item 1 almost failed me out of basic 18 years ago....I was on Sgt's inspection but she got stuck on the first guy who went in and yelled at him for 15 minutes before she got to me....

As an instructor for BMQ's I can tell you being a grey man will get you through the course but the people that speak up and worked hard as they can get more out of it. Everything you need to know you will be taught focus on physical training simple cardio, push ups, situps and pull ups and you will be fine. Just listen to what your told and ask questions when you don't understand something so that you dont screw up and get ripped into. Lastly BMQ is supposed to be stressful it's our job to put on some pressure so that you develop the ability to work under stress.

Oh and don't go in expecting it to be like call of duty, you will be very dissapoonted :p

dont forget to practice not bathing for 2 weeks in field while youre at it... you will only then learn the joy of baby wipes..

Watched an episode of Man Tracker the other night and the two guys who beat the Man Tracker where Soldiers who where in top condition, they could run and swim and knew when to hide and hold cover when they where close to being caught !
These guys where in Very Good physical condition along with Very Good mental condition too!!!
Yes, baby wipes are great for a trip into the woods when your squating against a tree stump for the morning constitution.
Anyone know what the grunt pole is?
