Took my long time pal out hunting yesterday and we stumbled onto a big old muley buck.
My tag was cut so I let my buddy go for the shot. Wait I say, can only count three points, wait, wait, wait, yup, git him he's good to go.
Wait, wait, wait, and the buck is gone.
Hay I holler, didja drop a round?
NOOOOOO! I had the x-hairs on his neck.
So, pull the trigger.
I did and nothing happened. :(
Well it seems the bolt handle wasn`t all the way down.
Jeeeeesh. The round he tried to chamber was a bit fat and he figured the bolt was all the way home.
I asked him what the Chinese do when they build a house.
Fueng shay he sayz.
Yep I say, you don`t have any today.
This chap hasn`t had any real serious hunting in over 30 years.
Hand him a plate of yum yums and he drops it.
That is what memories are made of....oh sh$tzs. I told him to sell me that piece of crap rifle.
Yep a real, and I mean a real nice Schultz & Larsen Model 65DL 308 Norma Mag.
If I had known he was using the reloads he got with it when he bought that rifle, well I would of given him a box of mine.
Dang, it was a nice old buck.
I have learned a while back to chamber all your hunting rounds before you need to
shoot them. Make sure they work.
I am sure he will remember this day as will I. ;)
Have a good one Nutzzs.

I learned that lesson last year. Up until then I had only hunted with milsurps and never had any trouble chambering any reloads in those sloppy chambers. But then I bought a new rifle and Bang, jammed a round in the chamber taking the finishing shot on a cow moose. And I mean JAMMED. My buddy had to finish her off. I now cycle them all before they go in the box.
