I don't shop handguns a whole lot, mainly due to lack of opportunity here in Canada, but today I was looking at a trio of 9 mm pistols from the above Italian company, all of them with the company's military finish, and was quite impressed with their feel and obvious quality of fit- the slide and magazines operated as if Teflon coated. I did not of course get a chance to fire them, but I particularly liked the adjustable sights on one of the models and am actually considering buying one (that will be after the next election of course). Any opinions on these pistols will be gratefully received.

Also wondering about the availability of holsters and extra magazines, etc, for a pistol I've never heard of, but I can check that out on my own I guess.

There are a couple of CGN sponsors that hold this make of pistol, and they would be the best / likely place to inquire on availability of accessories. A highly rated pistol, I attended a course and the teacher was using one. He could shoot and that was his choice, says it all I think.

Candocad.

Thanks. I found them very similar to my beloved Glock 34, only better fitted and better sights.

And hey, the three Strike One handguns I was looking at are not available for sale to civilians at that location, so if a CGN advertiser who sells them sees this thread, please ID yourself!

Crap trigger and overpriced imo. I rather get a M&P

have you ever shot one ?....I almost positive that you have not... I have had the opportunity to shoot an Arsenal pistol and I own an M&P....Hands down Arsenal much better pistol in so many ways...but hence the difference in price.... perhaps it s time to take another happy pill

I've owned both and still have the strike one, even though I will be selling it. The strike one is hands down the better gun; accuracy, quality are excellent. As far as the trigger, it's not the best, but it beats the hell out of a stock M&P, unless you're talking M&P pro, and I still prefer the strike one.

I shoot IDPA with a guy who uses one. I've also put some rounds thru another. The trigger is Glock like but, not quite! It has a definite different feel if you are accustom to Glocks. I really like the very low bore axis. The gun is lean and sleek looking and prettier than a Glock. Accuracy is ok, not awesome but ok for a duty polymer gun.
Holsters and spare mags are difficult to come by but not impossible as the gun makes its way into Canada.
Having said that, the guy who shoots it in IDPA has had MANY malfunctions with his. He has had around 3000 rds down the pipe, thinking it needed to break in but the double feeds, not FTF or FTEs but actual double feeds, keep happening. He is thinking of going back to his Glock. I think he got the gun at Wanstalls.

You do have to get use to it. I'll take an out of box Strike One trigger (gen one) over an out of the box Glock. Just me.

Triggers are definitely personal.

The S1 has a trigger that's light but long with a ton of overtravel. Reset is very soft.

On the plus side, it's a light trigger and the actual trigger itself - I mean the physical part - is a piece of machined aluminum so the feel is very solid throughout the range of travel, not the flexy feeling of a glock trigger.

It's like a light H&K trigger. If you think h&k do decent triggers you'll probably like the S1. If you run triggers like a TDA or a revolver and come right off on every press it probably won't bother you.

If you ride the reset like most glock and 1911 guys, you'll probably think the trigger is lousy.

Here is some reading for you... in a nutshell Slavex (who shoots A LOT) pans the Strike, and Tea Pot 2 (who imports them) defends them.

I shoot IDPA with Still Alive and watch Alex fight with his Strike One all day long. It's too bad because he's a good shot and pretty quick. I suspect he'll start cleaning up on the circuit if he switches back to a boring old reliable Glock. FWIW he has one of those nice Rain6 holsters Tea Pot 2 shows.

It's a nice pistol, but it certainly is buggy. I'd certainly take my PPQ ahead of it, or my trusty old Gen 2 Glock 17.

The issue that Rob was seeing with the mags blowing out is a known issue that was fixed at some point and the one he saw this April was an anomaly - I know, I brought it for testing at one of his training events. If you get one that does that, which is getting really rare these days, you can send it back. I forget what the issue was exactly but it's a known, and solved, problem.

Whether you feel the other issues with the gun are problematic is up to you, but the mag puke problem wouldn't hold me back, personally.

I would not get one in grey/stainless, though, even though they do look cool. The sights disappear completely into the slide; it's totally disorienting. Why this happens on stainless and not black, I couldn't say. But the grey edition is not a gun I could run at high speed. And in general, I do not have issues running guns in a manner that most shooters would consider "fast".

Funny, buddy of mine has one of the brand new ones over in Europe, mags still fall out. So the "fix" isn't much of one. At least they fixed the stupid rear sight though. The all metal guns were intriguing, but with so many other guns out there that I personally think are a better choice, especially at their price point, I wouldn't bother. That said, I still like Berettas and don't like Sigs, love my CZs and Glocks, but am totally MEH with my M&P. So what do I know.

Reading up a bit, I see these are versions of the Russian Strizh pistols, which I'd heard a bit about some years ago I think. Anyway, has anyone encountered word of the reputation the Strike Ones have for dropping magazines?

He's got a ####ed up one and that's fully correctable. Maybe warranty support sucks where he is but here that would be a non-issue.
