Art of the Precision Rifle -Magpul Dynamics Teaser Trailer

Usually the trailers are pretty "Hollywood". The actual vidoes are fairly instructional...I have the others, so looks like I'll be buying this set.

At .49 seconds onward into the clip I noticed the barrel on the semi, independent of the stock, move to the rear in recoil .A revist to a "recoiless" rifle??
Am looking forward to additional info.....

I believe that some models (semi-auto) of the Barret have a recoiling barrel. If I am not mistaken this is the mechanism Ronnie Barret used to make a shoulder fired 50 possible.

The German MG 34/42 has a similar operating system, the barrel moves back with the bolt to a certain point, then unlocks and extracts.

M82 is recoil-operated, and is sort of like the M2, so that's why the barrel moves back.

when you say "sort of like the M2" it reads as if you are saying it is similar in design. just to clarify, its not.

The recoil attenuating barrel is a feature on many larger calibre rifles and cannons as it reduces the felt recoil of the weapon, the advatanges to a shoulder fire rifle are obvious.

When I first saw this thread I thought it was a joke.

Then I watched the video and couldn't help the facepalming.

Sorry if Im offending Magpul Dynamics enthuasists but it ain't my cup of tea.

I might still watch it to laugh at silly paramilitary Americans though.
