Article............Fighting Carbine Optics: Pick the Right One

I'm using a Leupold SPR 1.5-5X with illuminated reticle.

If you can do without the illumination and adjustable M2 turrets they make a smaller lighter version for under $800.

Works ok, much cheaper that the Short Dot
 
Just mounted a Leup VXIII 1.5-5X, German #4 reticle with illuminated center dot (paid about $800 for it).looks good in a Larue LT mount.on my Vltor topend.
Going to the range today and do a 'back to back' against my Specter DR..
Still have a hard on for a Short Dot, but I get the feeling that the Leup set up will 'haul the mail' just as well.....
 
I have a pre-production version from Zak - I must say I usually agree with him - but not in many cases with this article. He made a mistake in lumping the "1-4 series" combat variables in the others.

I think in all truth there are 5 different scope "types".
