Just been looking to see what riffle to buy to start out with. I know there are TONS of info on here, but was wondering on your opinions between these two riffles in .308 win CAl.

thanks for the info in advance!

1. Mossberg Patriot Laminate Marinecote Bolt-Action Rifle http://www.cabelas.ca/product/76974/...t-action-rifle

or

2. Weatherby VANGUARD® WEATHERGUARD CARBINE http://www.weatherby.com/products/ri...d-carbine.html

or any other opinions in the same $$ range (400-850) CAD$

Also, what optics would any one recommend to put on these riffles that won't cost me over 500$

Most every time I walk by the gun cabinet I shoulder the Vanguard, just because it feels right. Nice features as well.

Yup, go with the Vanguard. I'm a recent convert and it's become my favorite rifle. Smooth action, accurate, feels great when you're shouldering it and priced well. Can't go wrong.

Mossberg and Savage both have Lawyer Action Triggers.

Weatherby has a real trigger.

Get the Weatherby.

Normally, I'd sat try them both and pick the one that feels better to you.

But in this case...just in case you actually like the feel of the Mossberg better...I say go straight to the Vanguard and don't look back. :)

Now is this that hard? Its gunnutz, usually we cant agree that the sun will come up tomorrow. The Vanguard is by far the better, the choice would always be the other. Try a Bushnell 3500 elite w rainguard. Something like 2-7 or 3-9, and with the $200 left just buy some ammo and go make noise.
