Hello,

Just a quick question here, and I can take pictures when I get home to make it more clear.

Front pin was easy, mag release, easy... Bolt catch.. In every video I see, the bolt catch detent hole is not very deep, in my BCL lower it is drilled all the way through. With the receiver there was a small envelope with a lever, a shiny pin and a small pivot screw. The lever goes on the other side, the small hex screw mounts it, but I can't see how the pin and a spring fit properly for function.

Anyone got a hint? I'll try again when I get home. Thanks,

If it's anything like the bcl102, the bolt catch spring should be sandwiched between the proprietary plunger and the one from your lpk.

The BCL lower has an ambi bolt release (the extra parts you describe).

You don't use the pin (bolt catch buffer) from the lower parts kit (LPK), you use the long pin from BCL.

Firstly mount the arm (ambi release) that comes with the lower on the right side with the tiny threaded allen screw that comes with the lower.
Put the long pin that comes with the lower in the LPK bolt release spring and install from the left side (if I recall I had the smaller end of the long pin towards the right side)- the left side bolt catch from the LPK now installs normally (put tape on the receiver before you try and drive the bolt catch roll pin in or you will scratch the lower....).

Another thing that BCL does is the Takedown detent and spring go in from the back of the lower rather than the bottom (like my DD AR does). I tapped the first 1/8" of the hole and cut the spring 1/8" shorter. Install the detent and spring then an allen set screw so that you don't need 19 fingers and some kind of shim to try and install the buffer tube and not bend the sh&t out of the detent spring.
Here is what I am talking about https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQUezyWxbq4

Where in the Okanagan are you?

Hello,

Thanks everyone,

I’m in Rutland, I work for UBC and if you want to show me some tips, We can do it slightly off campus, at our research ballistics testing lab. I’m allowed to bring guns to work ;)

I'm in Vernon. If you get stuck PM me, maybe we can meet up. If you don't have a 4-40 tap and set screw for eg. The rest of the lower build is pretty straight forward except the odd ambi bolt release.

I shoot in Winfield Monday evenings at the Oceola F&G Club indoor pistol range.

Thanks, that kinda looks like it works. I’ve only put a mag or two through an AR before. Even though I shoot thousands of rounds a year, I’ve never actually taken an AR apart.

When this gets together, I’m looking at a 8” .300 blackout upper to go on it. I want something fun and weird.
