I just bought a .380 ACP Astra Constable.

Is it safe to dryfire as I've never seen .380 snap caps?

Also if anyone has experience with a Constable, after you chamber a round with the safety off, when you move the safety to Safe does that drop the hammer or do you have to pull the trigger to lower the hammer?

The "Safety"is a decocker. It will drop the hammer. Same as a PPK.

I do not know if it is safe to dry fire. Most pistols are - but not all.

My rule of thumb is I don't dry fire a pistol for which parts are not readily available. Use a empty case until you can get a real snap cap.
