(posting since i dont see one by mass and everyone should come to this, the stages look awesome!)

Hi all. Well, the big weekend is almost here! The 2008 Alberta IDPA Provincial Championship (Unsanctioned) is scheduled for Sunday, October 12th at the MVMA range west of Olds. It will consist of 13 Stages and a minimum of 169 rounds (bring at least 200-250). I and Steve Murdock will be the Co-Match Directors

Check-in and registration on match day will be from 0800 to 0900. A shooters meeting will be held at 0900 and shooting will begin NLT 0915. We have a lot of shooting to do so please arrive early.

If you'd like a PDF of the Match Copy, PM dragoon your e-mail address.

This promises to be ATHL's biggest match yet.

The weather is also forecast to be great! (Sunny but cool) (http://www.theweathernetwork.com/weather/CAAB0235)

this is a copy paste of the email from mass. direct questions to him :)

first ATHL match you dont need to be a member guys, so come on out, we had 40 people at our last match, lets see 50 at this one

Let's nip this one in the bud right here.

Westicle: Official IDPA Rule Book (pg 64), Appendix 6, Section F, Requirement 10. "... sanction form with sanction fee sent to HQ by AC at least sixty days before match date." ATHL did not do this and so this match has not been sanctioned.

As with all of our matches, ATHL follows the IDPA Rule Book strictly and we are an IDPA-affiliated club; therefore these are IDPA matches. If you have any further questions about the nomenclature of the match, please PM me directly.

As heavenisalie said, for a first match you don't need to be a member - but you would have to if it was a sanctioned match (Rulebook, pg 63). So, all shooters, new and er.. "experienced", are encouraged to come out and see what all the IDPA fun is about! No preregistration necessary.

A slight correction, last match we had about 50 shooters, and we think we may get around 60 this time!

I was out setting up the match with a few others yesterday, and its going to be a fun one. Lots of cool stages, including one where you shoot a cowboy style single action revolver (provided for you), some with moving props like Reed reactive targets, clamshells and swingers, and our famous shoot-em thru the (rolled down!) windows while sitting in your car stage.

Hope to see you there!
Joe

thanks for the info joe, sounds like it is going to be fun :)

"famous shoot-em thru the (rolled down!) windows while sitting in your car stage"

what kind of car do you use ?? stage started with gun in hand or ??

Here is the car in action at the last match. I'm the SO.

This time all targets will be engaged from inside the car, some out the driver's window and some out the passenger's window. In past matches we have engaged some targets from inside AND some from outside using the car as cover. Shooter will start in driver's seat with hands on steering wheel, gun loaded and on the passenger seat facing in a safe direction.

Wes there is no way you are getting out of that car in a hurray!:D

Nice explanation Joe. At this years Washington State match Stage 1 started the shooter with gun in hand and door open. Gun pointed in a safe direction. The first two targets were shot in Tactical Sequence then shooter left the car to engage balance of targets. Just another variation of the theme.

Take Care

Bob

man you guys are always picking on the fat people, and yes bob just getting into that little car would be a job for me, and getting out everything would go flying again :)

man when are you guys going to start using a full size pickup,.....

You're welcome Steph. In fact, you're up for a trophy!!! 1st SSP Novice!!! Congratulations.

I'll post the rest of the results (and some photos) after I get some well deserved (at least in my opinion) shut-eye.....

Great match today!!!

Hats off to Mas and Steve.

Bigger hats off to the folks who set the stages up (Friday and saturday I heard).

Steph,

Congrats on earning your first trophy!

I want the details tomorrow at work (between briefings to the Comd). I hope you're having a couple of Pivo in celebration...and eating Turkey!

43 Competitors shot in excess of 7300 rounds on 13 challenging stages. From some feedback I got on Match Day and from E-mails received since, I get the impression everyone enjoyed the match. (even if Provincial Trophies were presented as the sun was going down.....;) )

Regrettably, no attendance records were set but I think that was due to the match being scheduled on a holiday long weekend. Many regular shooters didn't compete and I'm sure that was due to family commitments taking priority. (Next year's Provincials won't be scheduled on a long weekend.)

I'll post photos after I go out and vote!

Stay tuned.

Well I'm finally feeling better from the gastro-intestinal bug that attacked me late Tuesday so I'll post some photos from last weekend's championships.

I didn't get as many photos as I would've liked. I was 'triple hatted' as co-match director, stats input as well as designated photographer.

So here goes:

100_2130.jpg

Levi G. at the start position for Stage 1 - 'Bookstore Shootout'. This was a 'self-start' stage where the timer was hooked up to a pressure pad and the motion of the shooter getting up (and thereby releasing pressure on the pad) started the timer.

100_2136.jpg

Bruce G. initiating the start of Stage 1. (The pressure pad can be seen on the chair seat)

100_2123.jpg

John H. engaging the initial targets on Stage 1.

100_2127.jpg

David G. (Levi's grandfather) conducting a stoppage drill on Stage 1.

100_2151.jpg

Rick E. conducting an 'emergency' (or slide-lock) reload on Stage 1.

100_2147.jpg

Joe B. reloading his S&W 625 before engaging the last targets on Stage 1.

100_2145.jpg

Jeff C. engaging the final targets with his Beretta 96D on Stage 1. (Jeff is an 'on air' personality with CBC Radio in Calgary.)

100_2198.jpg

Chris S. waiting for the start signal on Stage 2 - 'Brian's North Dakota Standards'.

100_2182.jpg

Devin T. engaging targets from 'low cover' on Stage 2. (This was Devin's first match.)

100_2201.jpg

Wayne G. engaging targets 'two to the body & two to the head' on Stage 2.

Regrettably, I didn't get any photos of Stage 3 - 'Holiday Cheer' or Stage 4 - 'Grocery Shopping Surprise' or Stage 5 - 'Carolina Standards' :(

100_2100.jpg

Arek W. waiting for the start signal on String 1 of Stage 6 - I Love the Night Life'. (Arek just got back from a tour of duty in Afghanistan.)

100_2165.jpg

Scot S. engaging the targets in 'Tactical Sequence' on String 1 of Stage 6.

100_2114.jpg

Brennan S. indicating he's ready for the start signal on String 2 of Stage 6.

100_2097.jpg

Mike J. indicating he's ready to start String 2 of Stage 6. (Since Mike is left handed he chose to start on the right side of the 'door' into the 'nightclub'.

100_2169.jpg

Robyn H. engaging the targets in 'Tactical Priority' (slicing the pie) from the doorway on String 2 of Stage 6. (This was Robyn's first match too.)

100_2178.jpg

Co-match Director Steve M. engaging the 'Reed Reactive Target' on String 2 of Stage 6.

100_2163.jpg

100_2112.jpg

Norm R. conducting an 'emergency reload' on Stage 6.

100_2175.jpg

Greg H. (Robyn's husband) engaging the last targets on Stage 6. (Greg got a 'procedural' when moving into this final position for moving across cover where there were unengaged targets.)

100_2092.jpg

Terrie J. moving into the final poisition on Stage 6.

100_2081.jpg

Mary W. engaging targets from cover on Stage 7 - 'Too Much Bird'

100_2085.jpg

Me engaging the right hand targets on Stage 7.

100_2193.jpg
