Fellow shooters,
The match is going to go ahead this weekend. The weather looks bearable, so we are going for it!

Set up is Saturday at the MVMA range in Olds. Those of you able to help, it is much appreciated. I will be out at the range at 9:00 AM Saturday, and actual setup will probably start around 10:00 AM. If enough helpers show up, there should be enough time in the afternoon to run the classifier for those who wish to be classified.

Match day is Sunday. Registration is from 8:00 - 9:00 AM at the MVMA range, followed by the shooters meeting at 9:30 AM and first shot down range no later than 10:00 AM. The match has 9 fun stages, some with multiple strings, so we will need to keep on cranking to get 'er done by ~4PM. Match fees are as described previously, and some of you need to sign up to ATHL/IDPA now, having already shot your first "non-member" match. First timers do not need to be members.

Bring lunch on Sunday as we may not have enough time to take a long break and head into town. Also, be prepared for either (or more likely both) bright sunshine AND occasional showers. The match is around 100-120 rounds, but bring extra ammo.

Any questions, PM me.

See you this weekend!
Joe

You guys taking up the whole range or is the rifle and shotgun bays open? Just wondering if I should just go to the TSE that day.

Great match ... an excellent bunch of folks to shoot with!

Over 30 people, 9 challenging stages, great weather ... hats off to the MD, Corp. P.

A big shout out to Joe. Excellent job, man!

It was a great shoot with good folks. I look forward to seeing you all out there again real soon!

An aside, I seem to have lost my knife, a CRKT M14-21. We parked by the Red Sea-can, so if anybody finds it, let me know, many thanks!

I think most everyone had a great time at the match, I know I did. Thanks everybody for coming, and especially those who made the extra effort and came for set up the day before. It made a BIG difference for me. You guys rock

As mentioned above, we had 32 shooters, our best turn out yet, with 9 fun stages that included a 12 ga shotgun, a 38 spl police revolver, and a car.

Here are the top scores; that is, those who will receive awards for their fabulous demonstration of shooting prowess! We will likely be handing out these awards at the ATHL AGM later in the year.

Complete results will be posted later.

CDP: only two shooters, so no top award handed out.

ESP: 8 shooters, so top 3 goes to...
1. Steve M. (ESP EX) 135.30
2. Jay B. (ESP SS) 164.18
3. Bill M. (ESP UN) 180.61

SSP: 22 shooters :)runaway:) so we were able to break the list down according to classification as well as division.

SSP SS
1. Duane S. 141.43
2. Rick O. 157.04

SSP MM
1. Michael B. 191.08
2. Dan T. 191.67 (Good job Dan! :dancingbanana:)
3. John H. 204.34

SSP NV
1. David E. 230.96
2. Mike Pi. 233.55
3. Stephan A. 258.87

SSP UN
1. Cody F. 198.43

Great Job everyone!

We demanded proper use of cover, and all correct reloads and tactical priority/tactical sequence through out.

Now, for some teaser photos...

May2008Pictures003.jpg

Officer Down!
Start: you are approaching a downed police officer, with his loaded Colt Police 38 SPL revolver lying beside him. Three bank robbers have shot him and are planning to leave no witnesses.

May2008Pictures022.jpg

Retrieve his weapon...

May2008Pictures023.jpg

Retreat to cover and engage targets. 6 shots only...

May2008Pictures014.jpg

Never Give Up!
Your disabled daughter playing outside is being abducted! Start by retrieving your loaded shotgun leaning inside your front door and take down the ring leader (popper).

May2008Pictures015.jpg

Engage 6 more gang members as you traverse to her location. Move her to safety behind cover and finish with the last gangster (a steel plate at 12 yards).

May2008Pictures025.jpg

Gas and Sip.
Stopped at a gas station you notice the place is being robbed and witnesses are being killed. Save the day! Start by engaging 3 threats through the passenger window, but not the innocent bystander.

May2008Pictures028.jpg

Another perspective.

May2008Pictures027.jpg

Then, exit the vehicle and engage the remaining threats, using the car as cover.

May2008Pictures018.jpg

Firestarter. While carrying firewood you are accosted by some real life players from "Deliverance". Engage the nearest threat from retention.

May2008Pictures019.jpg

While retreating deal with the dog. 4 times.

May2008Pictures020.jpg

Then from cover, handle the rest of them.

May2008Pictures012.jpg

Sky Marshall Rescue. Save the plane from multiple hijackers, using cover at all times.

May2008Pictures013.jpg

Enter the cockpit, take out the last hijackers but don't hit the bomb strapped to the chest of one of them (white balloon)!

May2008Pictures033.jpg

Lunch at the diner. Your lunch is interrupted by a robbery in progress. The innocent diners amongst the gang were switched around for each shooter, while the shooter was facing up range! Keeping it real, baby.
