Has anybody done a real world comparison between the Athlon Argos BTR Gen II 6-24x50 vs the Vortex Venom 5-25x56 ? I am curious about the glass clarity of the Venom. I know it’s not illuminated, 10mil per turn, and 25mil Adjustment in the Venom. Whereas the Athlon is illuminated, 6 mil per revolution, and 18 mil adjustment. I am looking for a rig for my rim fire build.

Why those 2 as a comparison? Venom is $700 and that athlon is $500. Have a look at the Helos BTR gen 2. I don't have experience with one but its closer to the price point of the vortex and probably alot better. I run the midas TAC on my 22 but also used it on my 6.5 creed without issue. I'd take athlon over vortex any day. My buddy has the venom. It seems OK for what it is. Glass is alright. The reticle is quite busy for my taste. He had it on his 6.5 briefly and he was able to make hits at 1400M with it.

Jerry at Mystic turned me to Athlon. Love my BTR, crazy value for the dollar no fuss Canadian warranty. Wolverine has them as well.

I have the venom on my .22, I do enjoy it for what it is. She tracks very well and the glass is ok, but don’t expect super amazing turret feel. The turrets feel a little mushy compared to other scopes I have. I would also agree that the reticle seems a little busy to the eye. As laker stated above, the venom made hits at 1400m while it was briefly mounted on my 6.5 creed. Overall the venom does the job well for its price in my opinion.

I didn’t even realize there was a price point between the $500 Argos and the $1000ish Midas Tac. I think I will need to consider the Helos. Part of my reason for comparing the Argos is that I already have one and find it functions pretty well for the price point.

How about bushnell match pro,I had it with the gen 2 ares btr 4.5-27x50 and vortex pst gen2 5x25 although the pst was built on a more sold base and had better glass of the 3 the bushnell match pro is what I kepdt.bushnell stayed bright from top to bottom of elevation.athlon had a darker/cooler viewing to my eyes.maybe different lens coatings.but you may see it differently.

Why doesn't Athlon have any dealers east of Calgary? Do they know something about Eastern Canada the rest of us wish we didn't? I'm hesitant to trust a courier with anything glass so that's an item I'd rather buy the old-fashioned way, from a shop in driving range.

An Arken SH4 or EP5 might be what you are looking for. 32 mils elevation. Nice feeling and audible turrets.
The SH4 HAS 8 mils per revolution and the EP5 has 10.
