Very similar products with slight differences, the garmin is supposedly got the better app and is a little faster and the screen looks a little better.
On that note, I finally ordered Athlon for myself after using multiple and trying the garmin.
I have heard of people having missed shots with the Athlon on the firing line when multiple people are sighting pre match with garmin and athlons whereas the garmin seems to be less affected by this.

I have personally used the first gen Garmin for over a year without any issues. I’ve also heard feedback similar to what dakota123 mentioned regarding the Athlon, particularly that it can sometimes struggle to pick up shots when multiple people are shooting nearby.
Aside from that, both chronographs function very similarly, though the Athlon is available at a lower price point. They are both sensitive enough to record the muzzle velocity of the Bug-A-Salt gun we keep here in the shop, which has become a funny test we do for every chronograph we bring in.

It wasn’t other shooters causing the athlon to miss shots, it was the interference of multiple garmins and athlons running within close proximity to each other. The garmin seems to have a better ability to shield itself from outside interference.
