+++++ ATHLON rifle scopes +++++

Jerry from Mystic Precision turned me onto them.

As they have a lifetime no question warranty in Canada with features unheard of at the price point I bought one. It was around 550.00, is made in China but the turrets , clarity, overall construction are hard to equal. If you want to spend 2k on their scopes they are made in Japan.

Huge following in the US with Canada slowly coming on board.

Really enjoy shooting with this scope.

The new Gen 2 has addressed the turret sponginess in the review.

Mine is great I have an Athlon Aeries. It is better than any of the vortex vipers, Sightron or Burris scopes I have had in the same price range and magnification.

Following. Got my eye on the Ares ETR UHD 4.5-30. Interested to hear opinions on not only that specific model, but the brand itself.

I have 2 of the Ares ETR 4.5x30x50 as well as a couple of the Argos line, like them very much. I will be buying more of the Athlon scopes. The glass is very good from what my tired old eyes can tell.

I have 3, two for hunting the other for target shooting. No issues with any of them. Great value for the $$ IMHO

Midas HMR 2.5-15x50
Argos BTR 6-24x50
Midas TAC 5-25x56

Two from Jerry @ Mystic Precision and 1 from Tom @ Go Big Tactical

I noticed a couple days ago my LGS is now carrying some of them.

They are great scopes with great reticles. I've had 2 midas tacs and an ares etr. My shooting buddies have midas tacs and the Cronus btr. They are all made in china except the Cronus, that one is a japan scope. They all track great and the glass definitely hits above it's price point in my experience.

I've got three of them now, and will probably stick with Athlon next time I need a scope. I don't have any experience with higher end scopes, but I'm a photographer as well, and used to looking for and through quality glass there. I have a couple Argos BTR 6-24's, one original and one gen 2, plus just got a Helos BTR 6-24 gen 2 that I haven't had a chance to shoot with yet. I've shot my 22 out to 450 yards with the first gen Argos, but ran out of elevation adjustment, hence the 34mm tube Helos. The Helos and gen 2 Argos both came from Jerry at Mystic Precision, and the gen 1 Argos I bought used from the EE for a halfway decent price. Turns out they've gone down in price since the first one I bought though, so it wasn't as much of a discount vs. new as I initially thought.

I keep seeing reviews on Arken scopes as well for a budget long range option, but when I looked up the prices in Canada, the decision was pretty easy to get another Athlon instead.

I have an Ares BTR gen 2, 4.5-27 mrad
Glass quality is ok, nothing special, past 20X the image gets a bit dark, tracking is fantastic, holds great zero etc. I like the reticle, turret feel is good. I shoot long range set at 20x.
I would like to have compared it to an ETR to maybe get better glass.

The Ares ETR is definitely an improvement on the Ares BTR, i've had the Ares BTR, Midas TAC 5-25 and Ares ETR, sold the BTR for another ETR

I have an ares ETR and BTR Gen 2. Both have been sent in for warranty within first year of owning them. I think the glass on the BTR sucks, so I sold it and kept the ETR which I absolutely love. I would skip the rest and go straight to the ETR.

Keep in mind the ETR is 2 to 3 times the cost of the BTR, so lots to chose from in that price range. I have no issues with my BTR, but I only paper punch to 300 yards.

How was the warranty in Canada ? What kind of problems you had ? Tracking issues ?

Thanks

I have 6 argos, 3 midas tac, 3 talos tactical and 6 neos rimfire

I really like all of them. Support through wolverine was unreal on one of my argos. If i had the need for better high end scope I wouldnt hesitate to upgrade to ares or cronus. I just cant justify it at this point with the collection I have

I also have and like vortex diamondback tactical. For the price argos has illumination and better turrets

My Ares ETR lost zero. What I found was the reticle would shift when you adjusted the magnification ring. On my BTR the eye piece came loose and you could screw it all the way out. The warranty took approx a month, scope was replaced, and this was during covid. This doesn’t deter me from buying Athlon, I’ll most likely buy another ETR. I thought the glass in the BTR was really milky with poor eye relief, everything else was great though.
