Yo- so it would seem I've finally been bit by the red rifle craze.
Although I don't have the SKS yet, I do have some questions.

I'm planning on getting rid of the wood stock, and inserting my action into a traditional looking synthetic stock, ATI's Monte Carlo stock.
My questions surround the stock:

1) Anybody use/ have used ATI's Monte Carlo stock? Good? Not good?
2) Can the bayonet still be kept with this Monte Carlo stock?

1) Adds to the OAL...its a little heavier than the any birch or laminate stock (but i like that). you'll have to remove the retaining pin to get the wood handguard off your gas tube assembly <--good luck!
Very minor modifications required. I like the black rifle look, doesn't feel 'cheap' like other after market stocks.

2) no, you'll have to remove the bayonet or cut a groove in the front of the stock for it to slide into when folded.

2) Can the bayonet still be kept with this Monte Carlo stock?

Yes if you are using a Chinese sks with the spike bayo it will fold flat, Russian blade will not.

I do like my Monte Carlo stock , it is heavier , thicker in the wrist and shoulders a bit better, just my opinion.
