ATI POLY lowers?

Hi guys - I am planning a lightweight build primarily for my son / wife to use at the range. I see that the complete poly lowers are available and at an attractive price. So from a weight saving and cost saving point of view seems like a no brainer. Problem is I am having a hard time finding reviews here or on the net. The vast majority are comments like "I don't have one but I don't think they are good" or "plastic lower never in my safe" etc. Lots of comments without any knowledge.

Does anyone here have any actual experience with these? There is not a lot of pressure on the lower (insert glock comment here lol) but I would be worried about where the buffer tube threads into the lower. Seems like an obvious spot for a failure right?
 
Talk to the guys at Target Sports Canada as they had a complete gun on the line for T&E, I did observe that both polymer and aluminum magazines would not drop free. It also states the lower should only be used for your 22LR & .223/5.56 builds, so no 300 Blackout or 7.62x39 uppers. Not my cup of tea personally but at that price point it is hard to argue, I would be curious what the source is for the lower parts kits on these!!

My buddy bought one and he could not close his DPMS upper on it. He said he found the general feel of it to be very low quality.

I plan to buy one some day, just for the novelty of having a poly lower.

From the research that I did, they are tight out of the box. To the point that yeah, mags don't drop free, and uppers can be hard to mate.
The idea that was expressed was that this is intentional, then after some use, they will break in and loosen up.

This idea is a bit concerning, cause if they have the ability to break in and loosen up, will they stop loosening up once they are broke in, or will they continue to get progressively looser with use?

Part of me also wonders if, because they are so tight, if they'd make a good lower for a precision OBR build.
 
I saw these at silverdale. They seem alright, but not what I wanted.
I think they were $150 or 200 complete.

The quality seemed good for what it is, not sure what lpk is on it,
I haven't checked but really how much weight are you going to save with this over say a $300 Areo lower?
I got a areo lower a couple days ago and its really nice.. The magwell is tight, but not bad.
 
For a polymer lower, I'd love to get a Cavalry Arms CAV-15 MkII lower (or whoever makes them now). I know the ex-owner of Cavalry Arms and went to a shooting competition in Texas with him in my team and he gave me his daughter's CAV-15 for the competition. It's light as hell.
 
Poly lowers are ...what? Like $20 in the U.S Because no one wants them.

If you could find one up here for $50, maybe try it out.

But really, How much weight are you saving? 2 oz.? An aluminum Lower weighs nothing anyway.
 
I've got a Poly lower that I paired with a Chiappa .22 upper and it's wicked light! Fit and finish isn't bad, but I wouldn't use one on a .223 AR build. The cost difference just isn't enough.

They actually claim that they are stronger than aluminum... I'm not about to test that theory though, haha
