I know that ATI stocks and how they fit have been beaten to death but my issue is a little different. mine fits well from front to back but the whole receiver will move up and down at the rear. the front section towards the barrel is tight but it seems like the rear of the barrelled assembly is under tension. I can move it up and down but it feels like its pivoting on something towards the front. anyone else experience this?

I know they're not the best stocks but it was hanging on the shelf and it was cheap...

Yep, exact same thing happened to me. I looked at the original stock that my SKS came with and there was a spring sitting in it right under the back of the trigger group on the bottom of the stock... I got looking and there was a matching hole on my ATI with no spring in it, the spring was to big but after opening the hole in the ATI stock with a drill bit and cutting the spring down about 1/8 of an inch I got it to fit great. Now to get the trigger group on i really had to lean on it. But no more movement up and down what so ever. Maybe thats your deal?

Hmm... not sure why they would say that theres even a hole in the right place. I got my SKS with that stock on it and it was loose. It moved about 1/16th up and down by hand and the accuracy was not so good.

Big improvement in fit and some improvement in accuracy with the stock tight.
