The more I try SKS after-market stocks, the more frustration I experience I realized already some time ago that the best stock is the original one.
Anyhow, the problem is that most stocks suck for price (expensive), suck for idiotic engineering decisions or both.
I already tried: Tapco, Choate, Archangel, ATI Strikeforce gen 2 and now SVD-style from ATI. Sabertooth, I even didn't consider as the price is crazy.
Now re: SVD-style stock-it is mostly crazy engineering decisions, but price was OK, so here it is:
Pros:
1. light, plastic is OK quality
2. handle is and the rest of the stock is a monolith
3. no need for the trigger group spring
4. handle has storage
5. has cheek-rest
6. price is good
Cons:
1. doesn't accommodate monopod aka bayonet
2. doesn't accommodate cleaning rod
3. not shipped with the gas cover pin
4. doesn't accommodate some types of gas tube release leavers
5. trigger group fits tightly to the degree safety doesn't work-need to file
6. stupid hump behind the receiver is not removable-you will need to disassemble the whole rifle in order to strip the bolt
7. cheek rest is useless if you are not a dwarf
8. no sling mounts at all
9. no rail to mount a bipod if you wish to do so
Most of cons are fixable, so that's why I decided to keep it for my experiments.
