Anyone have any experience with the Atlas Traps? We are thinking of purchasing 3 and building a combo skeet/trap range of our own in the back 40. We are looking at the 250 capacity models and 1 oscillating base(for the trap house machine of course) as well as the wireless skeet kit assembly. They arent going to see club type use as it will just be myself the girlfriend and our personal friends using them. Had enough of club politics to last me a lifetime.:kickInTheNuts: Just want to enjoy myself shooting from here on. Anyone with experience with these machines I would appreciate the input.
Thank you...:)

The French say: Beau Bon Pas Chere! Cute, Nice and Cheap! You get what you pay for. A Promatic or Lincoln will outlast any Atlas and can be bent in all sorts of different ways. Also, the Promatics will work in 4 inches of rain and a Canadian snowstorm!

Regards,
Henry;)

Promatic? At 10 grand a pop? :eek:I am not building a gun club, just a range in my backyard for myself and a few close friends to play around on.:shotgun: LOL I dont need 30G's worth of equipment for that. Thanks for the input but I just wanted to know if anyone had experience with the Atlas so they could share some aspects of them. Basically a review of them.;) We are currently running Beomats at our club, had them since 1994 without a glitch yet but again at 10G's each they aren't part of my backyard budget.

My brother in-law has one and seems to work fine for him. He had a few issues with the timing or spring tension when he first got it, it wouldn't re-####, but got it figured out, and works for him. He's got the 12 volt system, and sets the loader on the back of his quad, and fires away. Not sure what he paid, but i thought he said around $1200. Holds about 100 clays.
I picked up a used Winchester Western for under $400. Had Western Retro rebuild it and then I added the automatic trap loader. That eliminated the need for a person in the house, and it's good for 270 rounds at a time.
The biggest difference between my Winchester and the Atlas, I built a house for it and wired in power, where as the Atlas, goes where you go.
Both of us use them for private shoots and personal use. Two different types of trap machines, both relatively inexpensive, both do the job.

Hogiron, I thought about doing the same with one of the western traps our club is selling off. My problem with that is that the back field is too far from the road or house to run electricity too without costing a holy fortune. I too am going to build houses for them and put in a proper layout. However I need the battery operated machines, getting the batteries back and forth is easy with the quads. Thank you for the great input.:)

Just use a generator with the Winchesters........How does one throw doubles with the magazine(carousel) on top of the Winchesters??

I presently have an Atlas Patriot 12volt with a wireless remote, works great, love it, use it all the time, with no problems what so ever
I plan on buying more of them to try and set up a five stand on the farm, for friends and family I put a good marine battery on it and it throws thousands targets before needing a charge

Awesome, thank you very much for the info.

jplanoue, where did you buy your Patriot? I talked to Scott at Atlas and he told me he could send one up by parcel post. Glad to hear yours is working out so good. I plan to buy 2 to add report pairs to our set up of manual 3/4 #### machines. Good Trappers are hard to find these days.

Hi folks, Our DS100 throws automatic singles and doubles. Standard and International targets will fit. Our CS270 holds 270 targets throws automatic singles. These loaders will fit all Western handset machines (Model V1524 & V1579 wobble). We now make a 500+ capacity carousel for the single stack Western skeet machine. Machines can be run through an inverter/solar panel or generator for portable power.
