I remember AMT when I very first got seriously into shooting about 17-18 years ago.
I never laid hands on one of the rifles you have, but shot a few of the Auto Mag series pistols. The AMT Auto Mag III was a 30Carbine pistol that was just insane fun!!!

At the time they seemed to be very high quality firearms.
AMT just kind of disappeared though... What ever happened to them?

To be kind, much of thier product was complete and total ####. They looked pretty. They might work at first. After a while, count yourself lucky if they keep it up.

They sold a lot of guns and even more magazine covers.
 
Unless I am mistaken, the AMT lightning was a mirror image of a 10/22. All parts interchangeable, but the receiver was machined from stainless steel instead of cast from aluminum.
I don't know who made their stocks, but do remember that you could get them from the factory that way.

Was there not a model that had the barrel threaded to the receiver as well?
