ATRS Modern Sporter - Nov 30th : New video, Post 482

I believe they said as long as you were able to place the order online you were in the second batch. The serial number thing was for guys to get ahead of C71. ATRS said it was a bit of a paperwork nightmare for them so that was a first batch thing.

I believe you have to make the full payment and then a serial number will be assigned.

Unless things have changed as mentioned above.

As I know there are folks with serial numbers who are in the second run, but an email to Atrs will clarify if you have made the full payment.

Just thinking about something, could it been cheaper to build the lowers out of polymer, like on some ar-15? Polymer can make for good lowers yet.

ATRS doesn’t make cheap stuff. You do get what you pay for with them though. Top notch work. I would be shocked if they put their name on a plastic lower.

Cheaper is relative. ATRS is a MACHINE Shop that manufactures rifles. To make plastic lowers or uppers is done by a plastic injection molding shop.
The guys could probably branch out but have you priced an injection molding set up. I haven't but suspect it ain't cheap. Ergo the price of set up, of the shop, the molds and the machines would all be part of the end cost of the parts.

Thanks but I will stick to really well machined aluminum by guys who excell at what they already do.

Not to mention you need to use the right design and use the right materials. Look at the Cav Arms/GWACS lowers in the US- good materials and a design that is built around the use of plastic. Contrast that with the other junk plastic lowers that use a standard AR/M4 lower design.
