Hey guys

I was thinking of getting a ATRS MS reciever set possibly, I'm curious about your builds and the cost for them. What am I looking to spend building it? What brands should I stick to? What brand of ammo does it like?

Thanks guys!

I've owned a couple.
Brownells and TNA will have most of what your looking for.

I spent ~ 3K all in minus optics, most of which had quality parts. I use ATRS MS regularly every week or so at the range.

So why is ATRS still selling reciever sets for them if prohib?

You seem to be misinformed. They were issued a cease and desist letter from the Alberta CFO back in October of 2020 and are now forced to sit on many orders until their case goes to trial and determines whether the FRT and the feds are right or wrong.
You might want to spend some time reading the posts in their forum in order to become up to speed.

they are not. they got shut down. they are now allowed to fill orders placed before may 1st. and not orders placed between may 1st and when the frt changed. because may 1st is the date the OIC prohibited them. and the FRT change date is currently irreverent to the CFC. that was just a delay in updating the frt based on the oic.

Not shut down, but certainly an over reach by the Alberta CFO has hurt us badly. The cease and desist letter we got in October 2020 said no more of our semi autos were to be sold, manufactured or delivered AND hand over your client list. We received a court ruling allowing us to ship all orders placed prior to may 1 2020. The OIC does not mention any of our Modern line of semi autos, only the FRTs were unlawfully changed late in May of 2020. Our feeling at that time was and still is that the FRT is merely "advice to a friend" to quote Justice Gagne recently, so feel that there is hope for us to be allowed to not only ship out all the post May 1 2020 orders we have sitting here ready to go but to also get us back into full on manufacturing of these again.

With luck she will actually hear our case later this month and find for us.
I say "with luck" as the governments legal team is throwing up every possible hurdle to prevent our case from getting to court. Each hurdle costs me more $$. The way they play is to bankrupt a plaintiff before it gets to the judge.

Any donations to our legal fund is greatly appreciated. Our fight is not just for our benefit but for the Canadian Gun cultures benefit.

Donations can be sent by EMT to

as an aside, i ran a small town for a while and was responsible for writing municipal legislation - bylaws. laws just the same, as enforceable in court as provincial and federal legislation. and what i learned from this is that the process is fundamentally flawed. politics as much as good judgement drives decisions, lawyers don't know nearly as much as they pretend to, and there are absolutely no repercussions to putting out flawed legislation, as the cost of testing/challenging that legislation rests solely with those being charged.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll do some more digging. That is very unfortunate...

I see there are private sellers on the forums who still our receiver sets and rifles as well as many other makers gear that now have prohib status FRTs, the legality of these sales I can't comment on but I would think it is a very grey area.
Like with ALL things, it is only illegal if you get caught.

I know I've been offered on trade, sketchy none the least.

People who want to build should to donate to ATRS. I'm hoping and praying for a win because I want an MV and MH for hunting. Donating more once bills are paid!

No. Anyone that owns or wants to own any gun should donate, as without legal actions such as this the future of gun owners is very bleak.

I know a guy who still takes his MS out, pretty much daily. Great coyote gun, just trying to keep the chickens safe.

If my memory is correct, the build was well over $5k including optic.
